The Indianapolis Colts will be playing its first home game of the 2016 season when they open the 2017 season against the New York Jets on September 9.

It’s been nearly three years since the franchise returned to Indianapolis, where they played the 2011 season finale in front of a sellout crowd.

The Colts have a strong history at Lucas Oil Stadium, as they played in Indianapolis from the 1970s through the 1980s.

It was a major part of the Colts’ resurgence in the 1990s, when they were named the NFL’s best franchise and won three Super Bowls.

The team also hosted Super Bowl XXVIII in January of 2017, and they are one of just two teams in NFL history to have five consecutive winning seasons, joining the Detroit Lions.
